This process provides opportunities for children to grow in their faith through instruction in Catholic beliefs and Traditions, participation in prayer and an understanding of how to live their faith each day. Faith is the best gift you can hand down to your children. At your child’s Baptism, each parent accepts the responsibility of training their child in the practice of the Faith. The Church teaches that the parent’s role in the formation of Christian values in their children is irreplaceable. Our preparation process aims to assist in this responsibility of passing on the teachings of Jesus Christ revealed through His church.
Children will explore their faith with grade appropriate Catholic curriculum including breaking open the Word of God at each session, activities based on the Liturgical year and social justice. Children will learn the sense of a faith community, a faith family which was founded over 2,000 years ago.
First Reconciliation and First Communion
The Diocese of Orange requires two years of preparation for children wishing to celebrate the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. This preparation may be completed through enrollment in the Faith Formation for children program. Parents attend a series of meetings on the theology of the sacraments in general and specifically First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Parents are given practical suggestions on how to talk with their children about God, why it is necessary to attend Mass on Sunday, and how to share their faith with their children in age-appropriate ways.
During the second-year preparation the children celebrate the sacrament of Reconciliation and their First Communion during the Easter Season. A First Communion Retreat Day is scheduled for the children before the reception of these sacraments. Parents must participate during this process and attend mass on Sundays.

- Enrich a deeper understanding of their Catholic faith.
- Develop their gifts and talents to spread the Good News.
